LOUISIANA
The Senate Committee on Finance will hold a hearing on May 22 regarding SB 149. This measure provides that beginning January 1, 2024, the minimum wage will be set at ten dollars per hour. Every employer in the state must pay to each employee wages at a rate of not less than ten dollars per hour for hours worked in a pay period regardless of how the time at work is measured.

MAINE
The Joint Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business will hold a hearing on May 23 regarding LD 1911. This measure amends current statutes to require manufacturers of automobiles to make available for purchase, by the owner of an automobile and independent repair facilities, the same diagnostic and repair information, including technical updates, that the manufacturer makes available to its dealers through an online or other electronically accessible manufacturers diagnostic and repair information system.

The Joint Committee on Health and Human Services will hold a work session on May 24 regarding LD 73. This measure requires that people who extract water (bottlers) in the state of Maine monitor for the level of PFAS applicable to a community water system. If initial monitoring detects the presence of any PFAS contaminants, bottlers must continue monitoring and reporting results.

The Senate Environmental Conservation Committee will hold a hearing on May 22 regarding SB 897. This measure introduces the Climate Corporate Accountability Act by requiring companies to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions.

NORTH CAROLINA
The Greensboro City Council will hold a public hearing on May 23 for an ordinance amending the Land Development Ordinance in relation to short-term rentals. City staff has drafted an updated ordinance text amendment to clarify items related to the issuance and revocation of the required STR zoning permit, establish a limit on the number of short-term rentals allowed in individual multifamily buildings, clarified parking rights, and adhere to community standards and remove the two-night minimum stay for certain types of short-term rentals.

The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a work session on May 23 regarding HB 106. This measure requires every employer to provide each of its employees with a written or electronic statement or access to a statement of the employee's earnings and deductions for each pay period on the employer's regular paydays.

The House Rules Committee will hold a work session on May 23 regarding HB 2725. This measure prohibits pharmacy benefit managers from imposing fees on rural pharmacies after point of sale.

RHODE ISLAND
The Senate Environment and Agriculture Committee will hold a hearing on May 24 regarding SB 15. This measure prohibits state funds from being used to purchase single-serving bottled water, single-use plastic checkout bags, or extended polystyrene. State governmental entities are prohibited from entering into a contract with a food service provider that provides and/or makes available single-use plastic checkout bags or a food service provider that provides food in single service articles that consist of expanded polystyrene.

WASHINGTON
The Olympia City Council will receive a briefing on May 23 regarding city policies and code changes to advance the electrification of new commercial buildings. The updated Washington State Energy Code (WSEC) will go into effect July 1, 2023, and includes new provisions that will substantially increase the use of electric equipment, and substantially decrease the use of combustion equipment, in new buildings.
