STATE AND LOCAL HIGHLIGHTS

CALIFORNIA

The Hermosa Beach City Council will meet August 27 to consider an ordinance expanding the ban on polystyrene food service ware to include a ban on certain polystyrene products, single-use plastic products and single-use products.

The Public Utilities Commission will accept comments until August 28 regarding a new docket reviewing the State Renewable Portfolio Standards program.

The Senate Appropriations Committee will hold a public hearing August 30 regarding AB 1281, which requires businesses in the State that use facial recognition technology to disclose usage in a physical sign that is clear and conspicuous at the entrance of every location using facial recognition technology.

FLORIDA

The Department of Financial Services will accept comments until August 27 regarding proposed amendments to rules concerning Medicare supplement insurance.

LOUISIANA

The Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing and accept comments until August 28 regarding proposed rules implementing a water quality credit trading program, with the intention of reducing discharges of pollutants into waters of the state.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

The House Municipal and County Government Committee will hold a Subcommittee Work Session August 27 regarding HB 559, which allows for municipalities to prohibit by ordinance the distribution, sale and purchase of products that contribute to plastic pollution which is harming the State environment, including the coastal marine environment.

The Board of Nursing will accept comments until August 30 regarding a proposed rule establishing telemedicine requirements for nurses.

The Health Care Authority will hold a public hearing and accept comments until August 27 regarding a proposed Medicaid state plan amendment and proposed new rules concerning treat and refer services.
